Sarnia-Lambton's active COVID-19 caseload has dropped below 60.
Lambton Public Health reported four new confirmed cases of the virus Tuesday morning, for a total of 3,459 since the start of the pandemic over a year ago.
Cases considered resolved increased by 12 to 3,344 and the active case count dropped by nine to 55. Cases involving variants of concern have risen to 562 since March 3.
Tuesday's numbers include stats from Monday, which were not reported because of the Victoria Day holiday.
Lambton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade told Sue Storr on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM) that he was encouraged by the low number of new cases.
He said we could see an increase in vaccine supply in the coming weeks.
"Certainly next week I think we're seeing a bump in vaccines," said Dr. Ranade. "We're seeing a small bump through June. We might be able to do close to 30,000 shots through June. That's really great, and some of those will be second doses because people who got the shot four months ago are due for those. But, many of them will be first doses, so that's going to make a significant dent in terms of what we see with the disease, hopefully."
There are three institutional and workplace outbreaks, unchanged from Sunday.
Bluewater Health had nine COVID-positive patients in hospital.
