Early Christmas gift for local charities

The Sarnia-Lambton Building and Construction Trades Council has once again stepped up to make Christmas brighter for local families.

Council President John Swart presented the Inn of the Good Shepherd and the Salvation Army with a cheque for $2,500 each last week.

We feel it's the best place to put it right now, back into the community, to the people who need it," said Swart. These two organizations do a great job and we're proud of it."

Salvation Army Lieutenant Brad Webster says his organization is still receiving calls for Christmas help.

"Our numbers are up, it's again families that are in need, and this donation goes a long way to providing the services we provide."

So far more than 700 hampers have been packed, with requests for help still coming in.
