While there hasn't been an official ceremony just yet, the Sarnia Arena on Brock Street is now known as the Pat Stapleton Arena.
The signs were officially put up at the main and south entrance of the building on Monday, reflecting the name change.
City Clerk Amy Burkhart said the project team, led by Sarnia native Brian Keelan, did a great job with fundraising over the past few years.
"The informal committee has been able to raise $28,000 in support of this project," said Burkhart. "In December, council also endorsed some interior modifications to the facility. That will include some additional signage and a commemorative plaque and photos."

Plans are also in the works to install a 15 foot graphic of Stapleton wearing his Team Canada 1972 uniform.
It's hoped a special dedication ceremony can be held sometime this year.
Stapleton was born in Sarnia and died at the age of 79, on April 9, 2020.
He played 10 seasons in the NHL as a defenseman, eight with the Chicago Blackhawks and two with the Boston Bruins.
He started his junior career with the Legionnaires and was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
