Indigenous culture to be celebrated at Walpole Pow Wow

Walpole Island First Nation is welcoming everyone to come celebrate and experience its culture over the Victoria Day long weekend.

The Bkejwanong Territory is hosting its 28th annual Spring Pow Wow on May 21 and 22.

This will be the first Walpole Island Pow Wow since 2019 as the event was cancelled for the past two years due to COVID-19.

Over 70 vendors, many offering Indigenous crafts and authentic cuisine, have signed up to participate.

There will also be dancers in full regalia, traditional drumming and singing.

Grand entries are being held Saturday at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.

The Pow Wow is free for the general public to attend and is being held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex Fairgrounds at 770 Tecumseh Road.
