Kiwanis clubs recognize years of service

Long-serving Kiwanis members in the region will be recognized during a Legion of Honour ceremony in Sarnia.

Governor of the Kiwanis Eastern Canada and Caribbean District Jim Scott will officially congratulate 31 club members who have volunteered for initiatives for 25 years or more.

Eastern Canada and Caribbean District 3 Lieutenant Governor Richard (Dick) Felton said there are seven Kiwanis Division 3 clubs in Lambton-Kent and Essex counties. Members from those clubs will receive certificates and pins for their years of dedication.

The Golden K Club of Sarnia-Lambton has 10 members who will be recognized and the Seaway Kiwanis Club has five members. Meanwhile, Felton said one member, who's in his 90s from the Leamington area, will receive 60 and 65-year pins.

"Our motto is to change the world one child at a time and they had been in it that long, doing service work and work for kids so it's very important to recognize," said Felton.

A ceremony will take place at Canatara Park on Saturday, where members and their spouses will later enjoy a lunch and tour of the Children's Animal Farm.
