The Sarnia Sting have been brewing up some wins and some beers this month.
The hockey club has teamed up with Imperial City Brew House to launch Sting Light Lager.
Sting Marketing Director Jake Bourrie said the locally brewed lager is available at all of their home games and at the brew house on Exmouth Street.
"We were just looking for a fit, people who align with our organization's core values, their work ethic, commitment to the community, proximity to the rink, and Imperial really fit that criteria," said Bourrie. "Their enthusiasm for it was amazing and that's what we really liked about it."
Imperial Co-Owner Craig Brodie said they decided to completely rebrand their Light Lager as the new Sting Light Lager. He said they wanted to make this bigger than just a one-time beer.
Already one of our crowd-favourites, this was the right beer to earn the Sarnia Sting's name," said Brodie. "This will be available year-round and we will look to offer it to other establishments in our community as well as the beer stores in the near future."
Brodie said the reception has been absolutely incredible, and that fans and the community seem to be just as excited about this as the brew house.
Bourrie echoed the sentiment, saying they've been overwhelmed by the support.
"Not only for the lager but just the Sting in general, the past couple of months have just been incredible," said Bourrie. "We can really feel it and I know the guys on the ice can feel it as well too. We're just so grateful to live in such a supportive community -- it's been fun and we look forward to continuing that with the community on our side."
On Thursday night, the Sting booked their ticket to the OHL Western Conference Final with a 4-0 win in Saginaw. It's the club's first conference championship in franchise history.
