Kettle & Stony Point hosts Pow Wow

The 51st annual Pow Wow at Kettle and Stony Point First Nation will be held this weekend.

This year's Pow Wow will honour thunderbird eggs (Niimkii Waawnoon).

Gates will open at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

The grand entry (where dancers and flag bearers are introduced) will be held at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

General admission will be $10, $5 for youth between the ages of six and 12, and seniors (60 and up) will be free.

Registration for traditional dance competitions will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

New Kettle and Stony Point princesses will be crowned this year. Chief Kimberly Bressette said they haven't crowned new princesses since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Waabigwaan Greenberg will be crowned junior princess and Rayah Bressette will be crowned senior princess. A senior brave, Gordon Bressette, will also be crowned on Saturday.

Everyone is welcome to attend the festivities at the Pow Wow grounds, located at 9216 Lake Rd. However, no pets will be permitted on the premises.
