Excitement building ahead of Alvinston tractor pull

Excitement is building around the Alvinston community ahead of the annual truck and tractor pull.

The event is set for Friday evening at the Brooke-Alvinston Fairgrounds.

Divisions include two wheel drive trucks, super stock 4X4 trucks, hot farm tractors, limited pro stock, and street legal pickups.

They'll be competing to see who can pull the most weight.

Spokesman Jamie Armstrong said there is plenty of room for everyone.

They've brought in the same bleachers that are used for the pro rodeo.

"They are capable of seating at least 1,600 people and we will also have a few other smaller ones around," said Armstrong. "We should have enough seating for about 2,000 people."

Armstrong said he isn't concerned about the condition of the track, adding the rain actually helps out a bit.

"It helps the track pack down," he said. "The tractors will be able to get a lot of traction and we'll see a lot of action if they can get a good bite on the track."

Sonic Sinners will be performing live music, and there will also be a refreshment tent. The gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the action kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Admission for adults is $20, youth aged 13 to 18 are $10, and children 12 and under are free.
