Pet owner charged for leaving a dog in hot car

A pet owner is facing charges after allegedly leaving their dog inside a hot vehicle, leading to a rescue operation by Lambton OPP officers last week.

A tweet from the West Region OPP said, during the weekend of July 22-23, officers in Grand Bend responded to a call and found a dog locked inside a hot car. The daytime temperature in Lake Huron resort community peaked at approximately 25 C, 77 F.

When the dog's owner returned to the car, they were arrested and subsequently charged for causing injury to an animal.

Lambton OPP emphasizes to the public, "Never leave animals in a hot car."
