Great Lakes Revue 'Back For More in '24'

A theatrical tradition dating back over a century will return this weekend.

Students from Great Lakes Secondary School will take to the stage for the popular Revue, on April 18, 19 and 20.

The doors will open at 7 p.m., and the performances kick off at 7:30 p.m. each night at the Great Lakes auditorium on Murphy Road, at Wellington Street.

Director and Drama Teacher April Brander said this year's theme is Back For More in '24.

"It's been pointed out to us from some alumni that that's the name of the theme from the 1994 revue," said Brander. "We figure after 30 years we can recycle that title because we are definitely back for more again this year in 2024."

Brander said there is always something for everyone to enjoy.

"The hallmark of the Revue every year is, of course, our sketch comedy," she said. "So, we have a number of comedy sketches, as well as the crowd favourites like the famous girls' kick line, and the infamous guys' dance, as well as some other dances and some bands doing some great musical acts.

Brander said over 100 students are involved in the production.

"Everything from the performers who are on stage acting, singing, playing instruments and dancing as well as stage crew, the technicians that run our sound and lights," she said. "We also have artists creating the sets and the construction students who are creating some of our set pieces. We have students who are volunteering to sell tickets and do promotions."

The annual variety show became a tradition when Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School [SCITS] opened, with its state-of-the-art auditorium, on Wellington Street in 1922.

General admission tickets are $10 in advance and are available at the Great Lakes main office, the Book Keeper in Sarnia, or Pets Life in Corunna.

Tickets will be available at the door for $12.
