Three arrested in nature trail assault, robbery

Three suspects have been arrested after an assault and robbery on the Howard Watson Nature Trail May 31.

At around 3 p.m., the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) was called to the area of London Road and the trail for a disturbance involving a number of people.

Police were told a victim had been stabbed and one of the suspects was possibly in possession of a firearm.

Members of the Operations Division and the SPS Emergency Response Team (ERT) said a male victim was transported to hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

It was later determined the victim had not been stabbed.

They received medical treatment and were released.

Before police arrived, those allegedly responsible used the trail to flee, but suspects were later arrested.

Christopher Williams, 42, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and three counts of assault with a weapon.

Kayla Gibbs, 32, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, robbery, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Mathew Boland, 36, is charged with assault causing bodily harm and robbery.

Police said Gibbs was released on a recognizance with a future court date, while Williams and Boland were being held pending bail hearings.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 519-344-8861 ext. 5300.
