Calls To CAA Increase In Deep Freeze

The Canadian Automobile Association is reminding members to prepare for higher than normal call volumes and longer than normal wait times.

CAA South Central Ontario says it services high-priority calls first, including drivers stranded in the snow and cold.

There were over 50 calls in the Sarnia area alone Monday morning, most were battery related.

Spokesperson Silvana Aceto said the wait time for assistance was about 45 minutes to an hour.

The association says during last year's deep freeze, they received a record number of calls for service.

On January 3, 2014, service was dispatched to over 9,500 members.

On an average winter day, 3,000 calls for service are received throughout the region.

Drivers are reminded to pack an emergency kit in their vehicles containing an ice scraper, extra clothing, blankets, a first aid kit, flashlight, and booster cables.
