Local Issues Under Discussion At Queen's Park

A delegation from the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Partnership was meeting with provincial government officials at Queen's Park Tuesday.

Chamber President Rory Ring says it's a follow-up meeting from 2012.

They'll be talking about a number of issues including the possibility of an oversized transportation corridor, a possible heavy oil upgrader, support for the labour market, and better internet access in the county.

Ring says he'd like to see industry be allowed to buy surplus power at reduced rates so that Ontario companies can regain their competitive advantage.

Since 2003, Ontario has experienced a 13 per cent increase in power generation while demand has declined 10 per cent.
