High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Montreal-based BioAmber has announced the achievement of a milestone with construction of its Sarnia plant.
BioAmber announced Tuesday that construction of its 30,000 megaton succinic acid plant off Vidal St. is substantially complete and is on schedule to begin commercial operations in the third quarter this year.
In a news release, the company says all piping work has been completed and water tested and all motors have been tested.
Production, analytical and engineering staff have permanently relocated to the plant and the facility, with a workforce of 60, is ready to begin receiving chemicals.
The $135-million plant will be the world's largest succinic acid manufacturing facility using the equivalent of three million bushels of Ontario corn annually.
Succinic acid can be used to make a broad range of products including plastics, cosmetics and personal care products.
