Summer Lifeguards On Duty

Now that kids are out of school and the weather is heating up, the City of Sarnia is staffing a full complement of lifeguards at its water areas. Director of Parks and Recreation Beth Gignac says lifeguards monitor open public swims at Tecumseh and Jackson pools as well as the local splash pads. She says Canatara Beach is also monitored during the summer months until late August. "There's one guard who is in the chair at all times during our guarded hours which are 11am-6pm daily and a second guard goes up on the chair as soon as we hit 20 swimmers in the water." Signs are posted for the public to swim at their own risk outside of the hours when a lifeguard is not on duty.
