The City of Sarnia is offering extended hours and free brush drop-off at the compost yard following Saturday's violent thunderstorm. The sudden storm packing high winds brought down numerous trees and branches that cut service to 10,000 Bluewater Power customers in Sarnia and Point Edward. As of Tuesday, July 21, the St. Andrew's St. compost site will be open until 7pm each night this week. During the week and including this Saturday, July 25, there'll be free drop-off for storm-related brush. Compost site hours on Saturday are unchanged from 9am until 5pm. City crews continue to clean debris from streets, boulevards and parks. Work will continue over the next few weeks due to the number of trees damaged. Residents are asked to use caution and report any new fallen trees or limbs to the Parks and Recreation Department at 519- 332-0330 ext. 3209. Do not try to move a tree branch or limb near an overhead hydro line. Call Bluewater Power at 519-337-8201.
