Thousands Expected At Powerboat Festival

Tens of thousands of people are expected to converge on Sarnia's waterfront this weekend for the Sarnia/Port Huron International Powerboat Festival.

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton's Vicky Praill says hotels and marinas are full.

"We're expecting 35,000 plus people down by the waterfront this weekend so we're excited about welcoming them all to our area," says Praill.

She says they're expect the event to generate $1-million in spin-off spending.

Monster Truck takes to the stage Friday night, I Mother Earth on Saturday.

Time trials run from noon until 5pm Saturday with races beginning at noon Sunday.

On shore, along the riverfront, there will be kids activities, wakeboard demonstrations, buskers starting at 11am Saturday and Sunday and a battle of the bands competition at 2pm Saturday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
