Flyers Continue To Sign Local Talent

The Petrolia Flyers have signed five players from East Lambton and Petrolia's midget programs.

Clay Dolbear, Carter Dolbear, Mitch Meston, Curtis Helps and Trent Jardine all join the club for the upcoming season.

The five join recently signed Drew Fisher of Walpole Island and Glencoe's Emerson Hathaway with the hockey club.

General Manager Dennis Meston says midway through their exhibition schedule, the roster is really starting to come together.

"We've had good looks at players, good looks at goalies, we're starting to get the numbers down," says Meston.

Ice at the Greenwood Rec Centre goes in after the Petrolia Fair weekend, in time for their September 22 home opener against Mooretown.

Meston says their dressing room and coaches room have been fully renovated.

"They have it set up how we wanted it, fresh coat of paint, new floor, it looks really sharp," he say.

He says they will start moving stuff into the offices Wednesday.

"They've done some renovations in the office that we requested, so it's set up for the Pointstreak guys to come in, and it'll be separate from the coaching staff, in case we want to talk to any of the guys before or during games," says Meston. "In Alvinston we were all in one room."

The Flyers open the season September 18 in Blenheim.
