Bluewater Regional Networks has hired a business development manager.
The subsidiary company, created by Bluewater Power, is working to deploy a fibre network to provide internet services to commercial and institutional customers in Sarnia and Point Edward.
Vice President Chris Gould says Paul West comes to Sarnia from Stratford with a long history of municipal telecom experience.
"The position is extremely important to us," says Gould. "With Paul's experience, he can help us answer the questions before we start to target our main anchor customers and the smaller and medium enterprise customers." The federal and provincial governments recently committed $180-million to support the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology project. (SWIFT)
Lambton's share of the cost is expected to be about $1-million over five years.
Bluewater Power President and CEO Janice McMichael Dennis told Sarnia City Councillors last December it will cost approximately $40,000 per kilometre to build the network.
