Lambton College Ranks In the Top Three, Again

Lambton College continues to be a national leader in applied research activity.

Research Infosource has released its annual list of Canada's Top 50 Research Colleges and Lambton is ranked number three for the second year in a row.

The national findings are based on a number of criteria including funding from internal and external sources.

College President Judith Morris says the goal is to reach the top spot.

She says that can be done by expanding the reach beyond the bio industrial and energy sectors.

"Now, we need to expand into Information Technology and Automation," says Morris. "We're really starting to do that, and I think once we get there we'll be able to attract people from all over the country. When you do things that are focused on Information Technology, you can do them from all over the world. So, that ability to attract that kind of research and those kinds of researchers, will also increase the research revenue."

Lambton was also ranked number one in Canada for the number of paid research students at a medium sized college and number two for the number of partnerships.

In 2016, Lambton recorded a 57% increase in research revenue, totalling over $11-million.

The College's Applied Research Department formed in 2007 has received more than $33-million in funding from federal and provincial agencies.

In 2016, lambton College had projects with 104 partners. 145 research students, and 55 faculty and staff researchers completed 60 projects.
