A union funded organization is fighting against the privatization of public services.
"We Own It" is hosting a town hall meeting Tuesday, November 14 at 7pm at Clearwater Arena.
Spokesperson Amanda Picott says their message to the government is pretty simple.
"The We Own It campaign is funded by OPSEU and we are a bunch of public servants," says Picott. "We have a personal interest in this. It is known that private services cost more and deliver less. For example, giving up 60% of the shares of Hydro One costs $500-million every single year and that's money that goes back into public coffers to pay for all the rest of our public services."
OPSEU Regional Vice President Len Elliott will moderate the meeting which will feature several panelists including Hydro One Not For Sale chair Rosario Marchese and Ontario Health Coalition Executive Director Natalie Mehra.
Picott says 42,000 members have joined the group that will pressure the government to stop privatizing public services. More information can be found online at www.weownit.ca
