Over 1,500 area students are facing suspension in the spring.
Lambton Public Health's Erin Courtney says they're sending out suspension notices to parents with children in elementary and high school this week.
She says they need to update their child's immunization records or provide proof of exemption.
"Requiring proof of immunization for communicable diseases helps further protect our children from vaccine preventable diseases and reduces the risk of disease outbreaks in the schools," says Courtney. "We all want out kids to be safe and healthy while they're at school and this is one way to be able to do that."
Last February, 346 students were suspended from school due to outdated vaccination information.
Lambton Public Health says the records include immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, mumps, rubella, measles, meningitis, whooping cough and chicken pox for children born in 2010 or later.
Courtney says parents can update records online at www.lambtonhealth.on.ca by phone or in person at the Exmouth St. health unit.
