Expansion plans at Sarnia Sunripe

A longtime Sarnia business is poised for expansion in the near future.

Sunripe is looking to build a nearly 12,000 square foot addition on the southwest corner of its Lakeshore Road property.

Owner Wilfred Willemsen said it would allow them to add more parking, and retail and kitchen space.

He said they would hire about 20 new employees.

"We're just looking forward to being able to serve the community better," said Willemsen. "We've had great support from Sarnia. The people here have been fantastic and we just want to keep growing and servicing them."

The development requires rezoning and official plan amendments that will be discussed at a public meeting of Sarnia City Council December 17.

Sunripe was founded in 1982 and moved across the street to its current location in 2010.
