Dancing with the stars for the medically fragile

Local celebs will be dancing to raise money for Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile.

Five couples are participating in the Dancing with the Stars gala at the Quality Inn in Point Edward.

Event co-ordinator Eve Morgan-Langille said money raised will benefit CCMF, which is a local volunteer-driven group.

"If someone has a child who is medically fragile, what is a parent supposed to do for when they leave this earth, and how does that child end up functioning and living on their own?" said Morgan-Langille. "CCMF can help provide ways to make that happen. It's one of the main things they do to help medically fragile young adults and adults live a more independent lifestyle."

Local celebs participating this year include Blackburn Radio's Carrie Buchanan, Mucho Burrito's Donna Hogan, Owner of Dockside Brian Vickery, Digna Victorino with Steeves & Rozema and Mike Thompson from Rally Engineering.

Tickets for the event, which also includes a cocktail reception and silent auction are $75. They're available online at Eventbrite.
