Sarnia's Michael Marinaro and partner Kirsten Moore-Towers hope to end their roller-coaster season on a high note.
The two will compete with Team Canada at the World Team Trophy in Figure Skating competition in Japan.
Marinaro said despite winning the pairs competition at the Canadian Championships in January, it's been an up and down year.
"Two weeks after nationals, we were at the Four Continents Championships where we finished second by a very, very close 0.06, right behind the winners, and they went on to win the world championships a few weeks later," said Marinaro. "But winning the Canadian title was very special. The process has been going on for over 15 years to that moment, and it was special having my parents there -- they've given a lot of sacrifices for me to make it this far, so it was a pretty good family moment in New Brunswick as I stood on the podium."
Marinaro and Moore-Towers finished seventh at the World Championships and first among Canadian pairs' skaters.
The sixth edition of the ISU World Team Trophy goes April 10 to 14 in Fukuoka, Japan.
The six best national teams from ISU will be competing.
