Strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and lightning caused power outages and some flooding as thunderstorms roared across southern Ontario Saturday evening.
Wind gusts coupled with existing high water levels on Lake Huron temporarily flooded some prone shoreline areas including at the Grand Bend Yacht Club.
Environment Canada also reported Sunday morning that the storms brought trees and hydro lines down on Walpole Island and in other areas. There were still numerous power outages, especially along the shoreline in Lambton Shores, with Hydro One reporting some estimated restoration times as late as 11 p.m. Sunday.

A wind gust of 68 kilometres an hour was recorded at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport at 7 p.m. Windsor Airport reported a peak gust of 94 kilometres an hour.
The weather agency said the only record high temperature recorded Saturday was in Sarnia. The mercury rose to 35.9 C, 97 F, breaking the previous mark for July 20 of 34.3 C in 2013.
With the arrival of the cold front that triggered the storms Saturday evening, the heat warning was ended for Sarnia-Lambton at about midnight. Cooler, less humid air was taking hold Sunday with temperatures in Sarnia forecast to be below seasonal into mid-week.
