City police bust two illegal dispensaries in two days

Sarnia police have busted two illegal cannabis dispensaries in as many days this week.

On Wednesday just after 11:45 a.m., city officers and the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at what's known as the Tashmoo Dispensary in the 1000 block of Tashmoo Avenue.

Police said they found a large variety of cannabis-related products including a number of plants, vials of THC/CBD oils, edibles, honey oil, cannabis coffee, cannabis bud, and shatter.

The product, with an estimated value of $253,000, was seized along with $18,000 in currency.

Two employees at the dispensary were arrested during the raid.

The men, aged 52 and 22, were released and are to appear in court at a later date on charges of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The Sarnia Police Service said it will continue, with the assistance of the cannabis enforcement team, to take action against dispensaries that are not licenced and have no regulatory control of the product being sold.

On Tuesday, city police executed a search warrant at the "Reefinery Dispensary" in the 1600 block of St. Clair Parkway.
