Sarnia's 165 CN Rail workers could be walking the picket line on Tuesday at 12:01 a.m.
The Teamsters Union, representing over 3,200 conductors, trainpersons and yardpersons across the country, has issued a 72 hour strike notice to the company.
CN's Chief Operating Officer Rob Reilly said in a statement that the company offered the labour union binding arbitration, which the union declined.
CN employees voted in favour of strike action in September, after negotiations failed to produce a contract.
The previous collective agreement expired on July 23, 2019.
Contract negotiations are scheduled to continue throughout the weekend.
