Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is looking to hire about 60 employees for the return of slots at Hiawatha Horse Park.
The company is installing 150 slot machines and hopes to be in operation within the first month of the new year.
Spokesman Rob Mitchell said a job fair is set for December 12 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Point Edward's Sunbridge Hotel & Conference Centre.
"We have everything from food and beverage staff to guest services, to surveillance, to accounting, to slot technicians, to security, all manner of things," said Mitchell. "It kind of crosses the spectrum in terms of jobs."
Gateway, which already runs Point Edward's Starlight Casino, was issued a $2.9 million building permit for the London Line facility in October.
"So we're updating the track system, obviously looking at renovating all the facilities, putting in some food and beverage options, grab-and-go, an express bar. Basically putting in the amenities necessary to operate a small scale casino within the racetrack," Mitchell said.
Sarnia City Council approved the return of slot machines at Hiawatha in May of this year after the Doug Ford government reached an agreement with Gateway in the fall of 2018.
The city will earn 5.25 per cent of the first $65 million generated from the slots.
Hiawatha owner Jim Henderson has said the return of slots is generating interest in potential spin-off developments at the track including a hotel and restaurant.
