It was a far from normal drive on Highway 401 for a Sarnia man who captured a police chase on video.
Jay McAuley uploaded the video to his Facebook page on the weekend after witnessing the chase in London. According to his post, the video was taken on the highway near the Highbury Avenue exit on Sunday. The first clip, shown below, shows a white truck being followed by several OPP cruisers. The video shows the truck swerving in the direction of a couple of the cruisers. A second clip shows the truck after it went off the road and appears to show OPP officers arresting someone.
The OPP said on Monday that officers responded to the westbound lanes of the highway around 6 p.m. after getting reports of a stolen commercial truck that had been taken from Oxford County. The pursuit came to an end when the truck ran over a spike belt that had been laid down by police.
A 33-year-old man from Brampton was arrested at the scene and is now charged with possession of stolen property, flight from police, and two counts of dangerous driving.
