After 26 years in real estate, Sarnia city councillor Bill Dennis says he's sold his last home.
The rookie politician announced he's retiring from real estate and is going to dedicate 100 per cent of his time to serving the public.
"I'm the type of person that when you do something, you want to do it right and you want to devote all your time to it pretty much," said Dennis. " There's a lot of similarities between both roles, you're dealing with the public, interacting with the public, and naturally some topics are interrelated, so, I want to take away any noise and distraction from doing my job and doing the right thing for the citizens of Sarnia."
Dennis, who is halfway through his first term, said walking away from real estate was a tough decision.
"The market is really bananas right now and it's quite good, but when it's really, really busy like this it does create other problems. When a listing comes up, you pretty much have to get there right away and then when you do, a person feels rushed to put an offer in on a property, and then when they do they find out there's six or seven other offers on the property and only one person can get the house of course, so it does bring up some difficulties."
Dennis said he knew it was time to step back and he's ready for this next chapter of his life.
