Noelle's Gift donates $14K to student nutrition program

Noelle's Gift continues to make a strong impact across the Sarnia-Lambton community.

The charitable organization has donated $14,000 to Lambton's Student Nutrition Program, which will support daily food costs for 7,400 students across 38 area schools.

Health Promotion Assistant at Lambton Public Health Leslie Palimaka said Noelle's Gift has been a constant champion for healthy food in schools.

"Their commitment to Lambton students shows their dedication to providing a nourishing start to the day."

The Student Nutrition Program receives base funding from the Ontario Student Nutrition Program of 12 cents per student per day. On average it costs $1 per day to feed a child a healthy snack.

Noelle’s Gift was established in memory of Noelle Paquette, a former kindergarten teacher with St. Clair Catholic District School Board, who was killed in January of 2013. The charity has raised $1.6 million since its inception.

The funds raised support youth programs across Lambton-Kent, and help buy supplies like food, shoes, clothes, medication wheelchairs and eyeglasses.
