One of Santa Claus' most beloved helpers in Sarnia has passed away.
Stanley "Carman" Lamb died at St. Joseph's Hospice on Sunday, November 14, at the age of 82.
He was a proud member of the Rotary Club of Sarnia for many years and donned a red Santa Claus suit for 48 years in the city.

Lamb's obituary reads that "he never liked being referred to as 'playing' Santa, as he was Santa in the purest spirit."
"He visited the medically fragile children at Pathways and Bridgeview School, even learning how to sign “Santa loves you” for the deaf children. Carman loved visiting children as Santa at various schools and daycares. He was proud to be part of the Celebration of Lights from its inception until 2014, even riding to the event on a shiny red fire truck. Carman loved visiting the children on Aamjiwnaang First Nation, where he was made an honorary member. Carman also loved visiting seniors, at Christmas parties and nursing homes."
Lamb's family said that while he placed third at the Santa World Summit in Greenland during his career, one of his most rewarding experiences was visiting a young girl whose dying wish was to have Santa visit her.
"He went over that Christmas Eve, and it had a profound effect on Carman and his family," his obituary said.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, on Murphy Road in Sarnia Saturday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m.
