Point Edward, Sarnia receive gaming payment from OLG

Point Edward's latest quarterly payment for hosting Gateway Casinos is just over half the amount the village received during the same period in 2019.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said the payment for October 1 to December 31, 2021 is $306,283.  During the same quarter in 2019, before the pandemic hit, the village received a payment of $598,051.

Since April 2000 when the waterfront casino first opened, the village has received more than $48.4 million in non-tax gaming revenue.

The City of Sarnia also received a quarterly payment of $79,217 for hosting Gateway Casinos at Hiawatha Horse Park.  Since May 1999, Sarnia has received more than $26.7 million in non-tax gaming revenue.

As a result of new time-limited provincial health measures, gaming sites were temporarily closed to the public on Wednesday, January 5 at 12:01 a.m.  This closure is expected to remain in effect until at least January 26, 2022.
