Those involved in fundraising efforts for the East Lambton Community Complex (ELCC) are not only dedicating time to the cause but they're also putting forth their own money.
The ELCC fundraising committee recently pledged $240,000 towards the project.
"Each of the committee members has donated what they felt they could," said Campaign Co-Chair Rhonda Noll.
She also said members are committed to this "long overdue" project. The multi-purpose centre in Warwick Township will replace the aging Centennial Hall, which was built about 55 years ago.
"It'll be nice to have a new complex where families can stay local and enjoy festivities."
The ELCC fundraising campaign launched in early January with a goal of raising $2 million.
"Fundraising efforts are going really well, we were actually surprised in the first couple of months how well it has gone. We're still a ways off our target but [we're] impressed on how it's going so far," said Noll.
She said there are no current fundraising initiatives in the books yet. However, for those willing to donate, Noll said naming rights "are going fast".
