This Thursday, the City of Sarnia is providing curbside removal of flood-damaged materials to homeowners whose insurance won't remove them.
Communications Manager Steve Henschel said staff have been engaging directly with homeowners since 45 millimetres of rain fell in Sarnia last Thursday.
"We've received 156 reports of basement flooding in Coronation park, and other areas around the city," said Henschel. "As you know, it was a fairly heavy storm event. We're still trying to determine how that impacted residents across the city."
Any residents who experienced basement flooding are asked to report it to the city.
Individuals requiring curbside removal are asked to sign up by calling city hall at 519-332-0330 or emailing customerservice@sarnia.ca with their address.
Henschel said the city is asking that the waste be at the curb by 7 a.m. on Thursday.

"You'll note that it is taking place on Thursday, right across the city," he said. "It's not divided up into the usual sectors where trash removal would take place. This is because we are actually deploying a second truck that's actually going to go around to these locations. That's why we're asking people to register ahead of time."
Residents are also reminded that the city offers financial support to homeowners interested in mitigating basement flooding.
