Sarnia fire crews battle third house fire in a week

Damage is estimated at $60,000 in a house fire Monday in Sarnia.

City firefighters, along with Sarnia police and Lambton EMS, responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of McKay Avenue at around 4 p.m.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis said most of the damage at the one-storey home was confined to the enclosed carport.

"The owner came home to the smoke alarm going off which alerted them to the fire," said Otis. "They got themselves and their dog out and there's no injuries to report."

Otis said the cause of the blaze is undetermined and not suspicious in nature.

This is the third house fire Sarnia Fire and Rescue has battled in the last week.

On Tuesday, March 15 firefighters battled a fire at a home in the 200 block of Lochiel Street near Euphemia Street.

Crews were then called to a house fire on London Line Thursday, March 17.

No injuries were reported in either blaze.
