MyCNN rebranded to Sarnia-Lambton Alerts

My Community Notification Network (MyCNN) has rebranded and will now be known as Sarnia-Lambton Alerts.

The Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (BASES) said current subscribers will notice the change to the community notification system on April 13.

Communications and Engagement Coordinator Tracy Krull said the platform, which alerts the community about a variety of events, ranging from severe weather to traffic, to public safety, was launched nearly a decade ago.

"We had a brainstorming session back in the fall, and just talked about the evolution of the alerting system and how it changed and adapted since it was introduced," said Krull. "When it was originally introduced, it was mostly for road closures and emergencies, and we've since added in industrial notifications and some other notifications as well. So, we wanted to better capture what the essence of the alerting system is."

Krull said there will be no impact to current subscribers.

"Any current subscribers will continue to log in and access their account and their notification preferences. Nothing is changing at all as far as that goes. Even the webpage where they access it, the Everbridge application, there's an app you can download on your phone as well, and that remains the same. Literally, the only thing that's going to be changing is the logo and the name."

Krull said the notification system currently has just under 15,000 subscribers.

Subscribers can select which notices they want to receive and how often they want to receive them.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Sarnia-Lambton Alerts online or to download the Everbridge app to receive notifications directly to a hand-held device.
