Organizers of this year's Bluewater Borderfest have noticed an increase in out-of-town ticket sales as the outdoor concert series is set to take place at Sarnia's Centennial Park in June.
The full line-up for the three-day event was announced in February.
The first show, on June 22, will feature Justin Moore, Tim Hicks, Mackenzie Porter, and Johnny Rivex. Friday's show will include City and Colour, The Sheepdogs, The Blue Stones, and The Down River Band. Lastly, Saturday's rock-themed show will showcase Daughtry, Theory of a Deadman, Pop Evil, and Bad Men Association.
As of May 1, most of the VIP tickets for Friday and Saturday's shows were sold out.
Borderfest Board Member Mark Perrin said in total, about 6,500 tickets have been sold for the weekend but many more are still available.
Perrin said there has been an increase in out-of-town sales compared to last year, with approximately 65-70 per cent of ticket buyers expected to travel to Sarnia-Lambton.
"We know the local push generally picks up late but we're excited that so many people will be travelling and visiting Sarnia-Lambton," said Perrin. "We've seen a lot of Americans, I believe it's 13 or 14 different states that are being represented and we've sold tickets overseas as well. So we have people from Europe, between England and Scotland, that have bought tickets."
Tickets can be purchased through the Bluewater Borderfest website or picked up locally at Corunna Home Hardware or Tourism Sarnia Lambton, located onVenetian Boulevard in Point Edward.
With just eight weeks left to go until the concert series, Perrin said organizers are busy booking artist arrival times and organizing scheduled sets.
