Sarnia council has decided to preserve an existing woodlot south of Highway 40, between McGregor Sideroad and Kimball Road.
The woodlot, and 10 metre buffer around it, were identified as significant during a review of the area.

The lands will change from a heavy industrial zone to an environmental protection zone, protecting it from proposed future development in the area.
A draft approved industrial subdivision contains 45 industrial lots, with associated roads, storm sewer, storm channel and culverts, sanitary sewer and watermains.

The nearly $200,000 job has been awarded to Advantage Sport.
The main floor lobby entrance from Gate 1 and conjoining Rink 1 dressing room hallway will be replaced.

Sarnia council has agreed to another one season agreement to deliver youth programming at Camp Saredaca this summer.
City staff have worked with the YMCA of southwestern Ontario for the past two years to support camp and aquatic programming in the community.
Staff hope to further the relationship and pilot new outdoor education and recreation programming at the site.
After this year's outdoor season, city staff plan to seek proposals for the programming of Camp Saredaca under a 5-year agreement.

A community safety zone will be added to a section of Blackwell Road.
Sarnia council adopted proposed changes to the traffic and parking bylaw Monday, to allow the changes between Metcalfe Drive and Garrison Gate.

Sarnia council has awarded the contract for construction of Rapids Parkway South.
Van Bree Drainage and Bulldozing Limited will carry out the nearly $3 million job.
The road extension is being completed in three phases.
Preparation for phase two, from Quinn Drive to Exmouth Street, started earlier this year.
Phase three will connect the Rapids Parkway North to the South section under the Highway 402 overpass.

Sarnia's 2023 road rehabilitation program will focus on several roads in the city.
Three contracts were awarded Monday.
The work includes a variety of asphalt replacement projects, from replacing the topcoat of asphalt to full asphalt replacement and new underlying granular material.

A plan to repave the road to the animal farm and the parking lot has been delayed to 2024.
Staff would have had to cancel bookings of the pavilion, some were weddings planned long in advance.
General Manager of Engineering and Operations David Jackson said this year's resurfacing spending is the largest in Sarnia's history.

Sarnia council has directed staff to notify the Provincial government that this community wishes to keep its surgeries and diagnostic procedures at Bluewater Health's Sarnia and Petrolia hospitals.
Councillor George Vandenberg submitted the motion for consideration Monday.
He said the city has been well served by the community hospitals and citizens have supported them through fundraising for many years.
Vandenberg said travel and possible extra costs are deterrents to seeking medical help and public hospitals provide better outcomes than private, for-profit care.
The Ontario government has passed a bill allowing private clinics to conduct more OHIP-covered surgeries.
Bill 60, also known as the Your Health Act, will go into effect once it receives Royal Assent.

A production company's request to film in Canatara Park this summer has been approved.
Three Friends Productions will bring a 12 member crew to shoot at the beach, near the lifeguard building, from July 28 to 31.
City staff plan to learn from the experience and put together best practice guidelines to inform future filming requests.
