Warwick Township has ended its state of emergency after significant flooding washed out roadways and damaged several properties last week as a result of heavy rainfall.
Mayor Todd Case declared a state of emergency on August 24.
All roadways have been reopened, except for Zion Line between Bethesda Road and London Line.
"An engineering and geotechnical assessment on this portion of road and bridge structure has been completed and more extensive repairs are required prior to this section of road being reopened," read a media release. "Warwick is working to coordinate the completion of repairs as soon as possible; however, it is anticipated that this section of road will remain closed for some time."
Case referred to the August 23 weather event as a "one in 100-year storm" and noted the widespread damage to both public and private property.
"While recovery from the emergency will continue, at this time Warwick Township Council feels that ending the state of emergency is appropriate given that most roads have returned to normal use,” said Case in a statement.
Warwick Township is working with the province to receive an assessment under the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program, which may help residents who experienced flooding, provided they fall under the province's criteria.
The township is also seeking provincial funding through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program.
