Lambton Shores hires new fire chief

Lambton Shores' new fire chief will officially take over the role October 30.

The municipality, in a news release Thursday morning, announced James Marshall has been hired for the position.

He's joining Lambton Shores from the Township of Perth East and the Municipality of West Perth where he has served under a shared service agreement as the Deputy Station Chief and Fire Prevention/Investigation Officer.

Marshall has over 18 years of experience in emergency services, including seven in leadership roles.

“I am excited to have this opportunity and look forward to serving the Lambton Shores community in this role,” said Marshall in a news release. “As someone looking in from the outside, residents should be proud of their fire department and the team of firefighters that make it what it is. I look forward to joining an already great team and continue to work on further enhancing the capabilities of our fire department.”

Marshall will fill the position left vacant with the departure of Lawrence Swift in the spring.

Lambton Shores has approximately 100 on-call firefighters across five fire stations.
