Outbreaks declared at several Sarnia-Lambton LTC homes

Six area long-term care and retirement homes are dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks.

Watford Quality Care has recorded 33 cases among the residents at the long-term care facility and fewer than five staff members.

The most recent outbreak was reported on October 2 at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, where fewer than five cases among the residents and fewer than five cases among staff have been recorded.

Lambton Public Health said in the last two weeks, 42 cases of the virus have been confirmed.

Last week, the health unit announced that flu and updated COVID vaccines are now available for individuals considered high-risk.

LPH said both flu and COVID vaccines will be open to the general public starting October 30.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
