A GoFundMe campaign launched to support the family of a local teenager injured in a crash last Friday has raised over $30,000.
Four-vehicles, including a motorcycle operated by the 16-year-old, collided at the intersection of Michigan Line and Mandaumin Road at around 3 p.m.
In an update Saturday, Sarnia police said a youth had been airlifted to London hospital in critical condition.
The online fundraiser, created four days ago by Nathan McCabe, is hoped to assist the boy's parents.
"I have started this fundraiser for Brandon and Amy Campbell whose 16-year-old son was injured in a motorcycle accident," McCabe writes. "Brayden has been seriously injured and is currently at London hospital receiving treatment. Preliminary assessment is broken femur, crushed ankle, internal injuries and [he] is currently on life support."
McCabe said the boy's parents will be taking time off work to support their son.
"I pray for a complete recovery, but this will be a long road requiring months of therapy, transportation, rehab, and emotional and physical support," he said. "This will financially tax the family, in so many ways, including the time off work that will be required from his family members."
Sarnia police were still investigating the crash.
Further details, including information on other motorists and any charges, have yet to be released.
Anyone with details about the collision was asked to contact Cst. Allison Knapp at 519-344-8861 extension 6203 or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
