Sarnia community mourns two prominent residents

Two prominent members of the community recently passed away.

Former Sarnia City Manager Lloyd Fennell died on Saturday, October 21 after a short battle with cancer.

The 75-year-old Thunder Bay native began working for the City of Sarnia in May of 1997 after moving here from St. Thomas. 

He held the roles of Director of Human Resources and Director of Corporate Services before becoming city manager in 2009. He retired in 2013.

Arrangements are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held with friends and family on Saturday, November 4, at Sidepockets, Stoke’s Inland from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The co-owner of a popular specialty independent grocer in Sarnia passed away on Monday.

Ingrid Willemsen was 58-years-old.

She, along with her husband, opened the first Sunripe Freshmarket in Sarnia in 1982 and expanded with two more locations in London.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
