A 26-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested in connection with a theft and assault at the LCBO on Quinn Drive.
It's alleged the accused also pushed and tripped a 75-year-old Red Cross volunteer who tried to prevent him from fleeing the scene.
The victim was treated at Bluewater Health, and needed staples to fix a gash on his head. He's now at home recovering.
Police said the suspect was identified Sunday, and placed under arrest.
He's facing charges of aggravated assault, theft under $5,000, and wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an offence.
Police said the age of the victim is a significant factor in determining the charges laid against the accused as the strike to the victim’s head could easily have endangered his life.
Police said the suspect was also bound by a conditional sentence order, or house arrest, at the time of these offences.
He was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
Police said he was scheduled to appear in video court again Monday morning to determine the bail process.
