Food truck operators wanted in St. Clair Township

It's a sign that spring is right around the corner.

St. Clair Township has issued a request for proposals (RFPs) to operate food and beverage trucks at designated locations within their parks.

Spots include Guthrie and Brander parks which both have power and water hook-ups, plus a few other locations around the municipality.

Mayor Jeff Agar said the RFP process is a new one. In the past, food trucks have been able to operate on a first come, first serve basis.

"Now, they're taking RFPs out and you can bid on it," said Agar. "The minimum bid will be $3,000 but hopefully they'll bid a little more. It's better that way because maybe someone would bid something and they would get it, then someone else would come along with double. So, this is kind of a better offer."

Agar expects there to be a lot of interest.

"It seems like every year there are more and more," he said. "When we first started doing this, when I was on council years ago, one would come around every so often. There seems to be a lot more around now, with COVID it seems to be more common."

The application deadline is February 22 at 12 p.m.

Those interested can apply at the Moore Sports Complex, in care of Community Services Director Kendall Lindsay.
