Despite the rainy conditions last weekend, the Sydenham River Canoe and Kayak Race raised over $3,800 to support conservation education programs.
Nearly 70 canoe and kayak enthusiasts attended the event.
“We were pleased with the number of paddlers, both competitive and recreational, that came out to take part in the race,” said SCRCA Conservation Education Coordinator Melissa Levi. “Everyone was prepared for the rainy conditions, and enjoyed getting out on the water.”
The event has been hindered in recent years by high water levels, the COVID-19 pandemic, and substantial rainfall.
This year's top fundraiser award was presented to SCRCA Chair Pat Brown and SCRCA Board Member Emery Huszka.
