The Town of Petrolia will hold an open house at the former Scotiabank building on Wednesday, June 26, to gather public input on how the facility can be best utilized.
Petrolia took ownership of the historic building earlier this month after staff reached a 10-year agreement with Scotiabank to purchase the Greenfield Street site and retain automated banking services.
Town of Petrolia Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer Rick Charlebois said the building is just over 4,000 square-feet and includes four offices.
As part of the agreement, the entry vestibule will house two Automated Banking Machines and Scotiabank will be allotted occasional use of one of the offices.
"But we can use it for anything else when they're not there," said Charlebois. "There's quite a few possibilities for the use of the building."
Charlebois said Wednesday's informal open house will include pictures of the building with a few key points of the agreement between the Town of Petrolia and Scotiabank.
"We're going to have councillors and three staff members just sort of float around and take any input," he said. "We'll also have input sheets if people want to [submit] any written input."
Charlebois said a subcommittee was appointed on Monday to collect feedback and will likely report back to council with recommendations in September.
The open house will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
For residents who are unable to attend the open house, Charlebois said ideas can be relayed to town staff or councilors, or suggestion sheets can be picked up at Petrolia's town hall.
