Strathroy police coax barricaded male from apartment after 8 hours

Strathroy-Caradoc Police say a male surrendered himself and is now in custody after barricading himself in an apartment near the municipal office for eight hours.

Officers were called to a disturbance in the area of Frank and Centre Streets at around 2 a.m. on Friday, September 13.

They were told a verbal altercation between two people had escalated, and while one individual exited an apartment, the other remained inside.

Police were told the barricaded male was on release conditions not to be at the location.

When officers attempted to make contact with the individual, they described the male as "uncooperative" and said he "threw items out of the window onto the street."

A section of Frank Street was closed for safety reasons.

The road reopened at around 10 a.m.

Further information, including what the male was charged with, was not released.
